Magnificent Frigatebird

[Fregata frigatebird](Fregata sp.)
YearSeasonNS
2005Fall Minnesota's third frigatebird was seen 9/19–21 St. Louis (Big Lake, off Echo Trail) †JIL, CL, FK (The Loon 78:115–116). Though probably a Magnificent Frigatebird, the documentation did not conclusively eliminate other species. The state's first two frigatebird records occurred in September/October 1988 after the remnants of Hurricane Gilbert tracked into the Great Lakes region (The Loon 61:55–56).
2016Fall1 The fifth state record of this genus, only one of which has been identifiable at the species level, was serendipitously spotted soaring over Ramsey on 8/21 ph. †AXH.
