| 1999 | Winter | One found 1/1 at the Blue Lake sewage treatment plant, Scott Co. RJ et al. lingered through the season and was seen by mob, but was later discovered to be an escape from captivity (The Loon 72:186–187)). There are still no acceptable Minnesota records. | ||
| 2017 | Winter | 1 | First state record (The Loon 90:126–128). Adult male discovered 1/7 Goodhue (Colville Park, Red Wing) ph. JZj. Continued at that location through 1/8, then moved downstream 5 miles near Frontenac S.P. (1/8–10); relocated at Colville Park 1/12 and last reported there 1/18. Reported by 86 different observers during its 12-day stay. | |
| 2018 | Winter | 1 | Second state record (The Loon 91:38–39), 12/11–1/15 St. Louis (Duluth) †KRE, m.ob. Female-plumaged individual, discovered by KRE in the Canal Park shipping channel and subsequently seen by many at that location and nearby Bayfront Park and Pier B. Reported by more than 150 different observers during its five-week stay, and well photographed. | |
